Commitment to Inclusion

The Junior League of Gainesville, affirmed by the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), condemns discrimination, racism, and racial injustice in our community, and in communities throughout the world. Black women and other women of color have been systemically denied equity and inclusion in our economy, education, civic privileges, and responsibilities in the voluntary sector, including in The Junior League. We are also encouraged that AJLI has committed to take action and advance definitive, measurable policies and practices that eliminate racism in our countries, our communities, and Junior Leagues throughout the world.

The Junior League of Gainesville stands with our members of color and in 2019 made a formal commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion within our own organization. We have incorporated diversity and inclusion into our strategic plan, established a Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and created and filled a Diversity and Inclusion Board Member-at-Large position. We recognize that this is only the start of our work and commit to becoming better allies through continued reflection, education, training, and further action.

We invite you to join us on this journey and have included a few resources below that have been shared with our members. When we embark on the mission to advance diversity and inclusion, we unlock tremendous power for our communities and realize our vision of women around the world as catalysts for lasting change.
